Exclusive: 2026 BMW iX3 Interior Revealed Ahead of September 2025 Munich Auto Show

0

BMW’s all-electric iX3 SUV, first launched in 2021, is set for a complete redesign with its 2026 model and a fresh Neue Klasse architecture. Spotted testing in Germany under heavy camouflage, the new iX3’s interior has now been unveiled for the first time, offering clues about its high-tech cabin and performance-focused upgrades.

Interior First Look and M60 xDrive Clues

The prototype’s dashboard is dominated by a large infotainment screen and features an M-Power steering wheel, hinting that this test mule may be the forthcoming M60 xDrive variant. A carbon-fiber center console and a dual-motor driving mode dial further confirm BMW’s intention to pack the iX3 with high-performance credentials.

Styling Updates Under Wraps

Although camouflaged, the second-generation iX3 shows bolder exterior touches:

  • Aggressive LED Daytime Running Lights with thicker, sharply defined lines.
  • A slightly smaller, more horizontal kidney grille replacing the current model’s traditional design.
  • Straight LED taillight strips, replacing the oval-shaped housings of its predecessor.

Neue Klasse Platform and eDrive 6th Gen

Beyond cosmetic changes, the Neue Klasse platform represents a new skeleton and nervous system for BMW’s future EV lineup. The iX3 will debut BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, featuring new cylindrical battery cells that deliver 20% higher energy density. Coupled with an 800-volt electrical system, BMW promises up to 30% faster charging and a 30% increase in driving range, with WLTP estimates exceeding 600 km and certain configurations targeting 800 km.

Model Range and Performance

BMW is expected to offer multiple iX3 configurations on the Neue Klasse EV platform:

  • iX3 40 (Rear-Wheel Drive, ~275 hp)
  • iX3 40 xDrive (All-Wheel Drive)
  • iX3 50 xDrive (Higher output)
  • iX3 M60 xDrive (Performance variant, ~560+ hp)

Production Timeline and Global Availability

Production will commence in late 2025 at BMW’s new Debrecen, Hungary facility. European deliveries are slated for late 2025 to early 2026, with global availability—potentially including the U.S. market—for March 2026. The previous iX3 did not reach American shores, but the global Neue Klasse platform raises hopes for a wider release this time.
