MediaTek today announced the Helio G200, its newest addition to the popular 4G chipset lineup. While not a radical overhaul of the Helio G100, the Helio G200 packs a modest GPU clock boost, improved HDR video quality, and the innovative 4G DC SAR technology to enhance social networking app performance in low-signal areas.
Modest Upgrade Over Helio G100
Built on the same 6nm TSMC N6 node as its predecessors, the Helio G200 retains the dual Cortex-A76 (2.2GHz) and hexa Cortex-A55 (2.0GHz) CPU configuration. The key hardware change lies in the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, now clocked at 1.1GHz versus 1.0GHz on the G100. Although a 10% GPU clock increase may seem small, it delivers smoother graphics and gaming performance on budget-friendly devices.
12-Bit DCG HDR for Superior Video Capture
Addressing growing demand for higher-quality mobile video, MediaTek upgraded the camera pipeline with 12-bit DCG HDR support, enabling richer color depth and better contrast in HDR video recording. This enhancement builds on the 200MP camera support introduced in the G100, positioning the G200 as a strong contender for mid-range smartphones focused on multimedia.
4G DC SAR Technology Improves Connectivity
