Qualcomm has officially announced that its highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset will be unveiled earlier than expected. During its Computex 2025 presentation, the company confirmed that the Snapdragon Summit 2025 will take place from September 23 to September 25, marking the debut of what’s expected to be its most powerful mobile processor yet.

This early reveal means that flagship smartphones from Chinese manufacturers — including top brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Vivo — are now expected to launch with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 between late September and early October in the Chinese market. With the shift in timeline, global rollouts could also happen sooner than in previous years, giving Android users around the world quicker access to next-gen performance.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to significantly upgrade CPU and GPU performance, AI processing, and energy efficiency, raising the bar for premium Android smartphones in 2025. Industry insiders speculate that this SoC may surpass leaders like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and even compete directly with Apple’s upcoming A-series chip.

The early launch, however, could spell trouble for Samsung, which is rumored to unveil its next-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip devices in early July 2025. These devices may be powered by the current Snapdragon chip, placing them just a few months behind the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite 2-powered rivals, potentially creating a competitive gap in specs and performance appeal.

This move is seen as Qualcomm’s strategic effort to stay ahead in the mobile chip race and align with the earlier product cycles of leading OEMs in Asia.
